The Four Pillars

CHARACTER: Character involves the mental and moral qualities distinctive of an individual. It is the product of consistently doing one’s best to make the right choices day after day. Individuals with strong character demonstrate honesty, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, selflessness, respect, and responsibility.

SCHOLARSHIP: Scholarship is characterized by a commitment to learning. A student is willing to spend the necessary time to cultivate his or her mind in the quest for knowledge. This pillar can only be achieved through diligence and effort. Scholarship means always doing the best work possible, regardless of reward.

LEADERSHIP: Good leaders demonstrate courage and a willingness to stand up for principle in the face of pressure. They often sacrifice personal interests in order to serve the needs of others.  Strong leaders value wisdom and judgment, have confidence in their skills and abilities, and galvanize others to work together in pursuit of a greater good.

SERVICE: Service involves the willingness to work for the benefit of those in need without seeking compensation, benefit to self,  or recognition of any kind. As a service organization, the CHS chapter of National Honor Society is committed to serving our school and the broader community.
